IU, who heralded a splendid 'greeting' for the end of her 20s, is back with her fifth full-length album [LILAC] with the scent of spring. The regular album [LILAC], released after 4 years, is different from the first album [Spring at the age of 20], which was released with the honest and fresh sensibility of a 20-year-old. It contains mature emotions.

Once again, IU, who participated in producing as well as composing and writing all songs, collaborated with various domestic and foreign artists to try out genres and present high-quality songs. It also gives anticipation to show.

In addition, in this album, VM Project (Celebrity, Flu), Flip Evil (Lilac, Epilogue), and Sunny Visual (Coin), the best music video productions in Korea, participated in this album together, and each individual and sensuous video and IU's music met to create a powerful atmosphere. showed synergy.

The title song 'Lilac' of the same name, which opens the door to the regular album, has a bright and cheerful sound that brings the excitement of spring. The disco sound of the 70s and 80s created by harmonizing funky rhythms and pop elements, starting with a rhythmic bass line, gives pleasure to the listener. The composition was composed by Lim Suho, Dr.JO, Woong Kim, and N!ko. 

2. Flu

When I write lyrics on the subject of 'love', the most representative sense I put first is 'pain'. When I finally realize that this feeling, which has been bothering me for a long time, is love, I feel as if everything that makes up my body is being rearranged. And the feeling is not really refreshing. 

It contains the story of a final rebellion with all my might against the germs of words and love, which eventually completely incapacitates me even if I deny it. //

Hit composer Ryan Jeon and his composition team, who participated in various music projects, collaborated with 'Flu' to bring life to the song with addictive hooks and dreamy melodies unfolding in a minimalist urban beat. IU's witty, detailed lyrics and precarious voice maximize the charm of the song.

3. Coin

Stimulating things are irreplaceably attractive, but in the end they are unhealthy.

Starting with a sample sound reminiscent of a game room, Poptime's funky groove band soundtrack and IU's melody line met to create a new genre that had not been attempted before. In particular, it is a concept song that IU tries for the first time since her debut, from IU's flashy rapping to a different drop part, which is presented for the first time through a sound source.

This song was gifted to IU by Na-ul, a singer-songwriter representing Korea, and the simple yet restrained melody carefully leads the emotional line following the melody of the EP and nylon guitar. The melodious chorus that throws breath like a monologue and Naul's calm chorus further enhance the depth of the song, and the bridge that leaves a lingering aftertaste, and the last chorus directly keyed up add an honest yet sophisticated feel. The warm electric guitar sound is added to the lyrical string melody as if spring has come, completing a typical yet emotional contemporary pop sound.

5. Celebrity

I have a friend who has often been treated as a eccentric person due to his eye-catching outfit, unique taste, various talents, defense mechanism derived from shyness, and a clear personality in everything.

Because of his characteristics, I love him even more, and for the same reason, he said that he has been living with more hatred for the same reason.

It was the lyrics that I started by writing down the words I wanted to say to my 'weird friend', but as I worked on it, I gradually realized that this was also my story. After completing the lyrics, I thought that it would not be unnatural at all to substitute anyone, not just my friend or me, for the main character. Everyone has at some point in their lives felt left out because they did not meet the standards set by others.

I want to say to those who were born crude and unique, including my friends.

You're not a weird person, you're a star. //

The pre-released song 'Celebrity' of this full album was released and took the top spot on the music charts at the same time as it was released, heralding a splendid comeback. It is an electronic pop music with a tropical house accent, and the light and sophisticated sound stands out, and the drop-type hook mixed with synthesizer and autotune adds freshness to IU's voice.

6. Rolling Song (Feat. DEAN)

The meeting between IU and DEAN, which many have been waiting for, has been accomplished. Park Woo-sang, JUNNY, DEAN, and jane participated in composing, and in a genre based on reggae and bossa nova, IU and DEAN exchange candid stories about the relationship between lovers like a spinning song.

Composer Shim Eun-ji, who was in charge of the last track of IU's first album in her twenties, <Spring of Twenty>, will once again decorate the last track with singer-songwriters Kim Soo-young, SUMIN, and Wang-bi on the album that wraps up this twenties. It is a ballad song that creates a strange atmosphere by adding retro sensibility to the refreshing greeting from IU and the lo-fi-textured sound that seems to come out of an old music recorder.
